Who we are and what this covers

Rise From The Ashes is a podcast hosted by Baz Porter®. This site, risefromtheashespodcast.com, is run by Baz Porter LLC. In this policy, “we,” “us,” and “our” mean Baz Porter LLC.

This policy covers this website and the forms, booking calendar, and pages on it. It does not cover other sites we link to, including bazporter.com and the podcast players. Each of those has its own policy.

By using this site you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

What we collect

What you give us

We collect what you type into our forms and booking calendar. That covers four places on this site:

  • Guest booking. Your name, email address, the time you pick, and any other details the calendar asks for.
  • Show prep form. The answers you give about your story, your topics, and how you want to be introduced.
  • Nominate a Guest. Your details, and the name and details of the person you nominate. Please share only what you are free to share about them.
  • Contact. Your name, email address, and your message.

If you email us at [email protected], we keep that email and our reply.

What we collect on its own

When you visit, our systems and our tools record technical data. This includes your IP address, browser and device type, operating system, language, the page that sent you here, the pages you view, and when you view them. We use it to run and protect the site and to see how it is used.

What we do not collect

We do not ask for sensitive personal information, such as health data, government ID numbers, or financial account numbers. Please do not put them in a form. We do not see or store your full card number. See the section on the guest spot fee below.

How we use it

  • To book your guest spot, confirm it, and send you the show prep form.
  • To prepare for, record, edit, and publish your episode.
  • To reply to your messages and nominations.
  • To charge the guest spot fee and keep a record of it.
  • To keep the site secure and working, and to see which pages people use.
  • To follow the law, and to protect our rights if there is a dispute.

If we send you updates or marketing email, every message has an unsubscribe link. Use it and we stop. We use your data for other purposes only with your consent or where the law allows.

The guest spot fee and your card

The guest spot is $149, charged when you book. It is non-refundable. You enter your card in the calendar’s secure checkout. The full terms are in the Terms of Service.

Stripe, our card processor, handles your card details. They go to Stripe, not to us. We see the booking record, the amount, and the last four digits of your card. Stripe’s own policy is at stripe.com/privacy.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the companies that help us run the show and this site, and only as far as they need it to do that job:

  • HighLevel. Hosts this site, our forms, the booking calendar, and our contact records. Their policy.
  • Stripe. Takes your card at checkout. Their policy.
  • Google. Provides Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager, which tell us how the site is used. Their policy.

We may also share data when the law requires it, to answer a lawful request, or to protect people from harm. If Baz Porter LLC is sold or merged, your data may move to the new owner under this policy.

Podcast players and embeds

This site links to the show on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube, iHeartRadio, and Overcast, and may show their players. When you click a link or press play, that company can collect data about you, such as your IP address and what you listen to. It may also set its own cookies. We do not control that. Please read their policies:

Cookies and similar tools

This site uses cookies and similar tools, such as scripts and pixels. Some are needed for the site, the forms, and the booking calendar to work. Others come from Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager and help us count visits and see which pages people read.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you do, parts of the site, including the booking calendar, may not work. To stop Google Analytics from tracking you on any site, use the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.

Some browsers send a “Do Not Track” signal. There is no common standard for it, so this site does not respond to it.

If you appear on the show

Episodes are published for the public. If you are a guest, your voice, your name, and the story you tell are part of the episode, and anyone can hear it on the players. Once an episode is out, copies may sit on those players and in places we do not control. The terms for guests are in the Terms of Service.

Tell us before the recording if there is anything you do not want published.

How long we keep it

We keep your data for as long as we need it for the reasons above, and for as long as the law requires, for example for tax and accounting records. Booking and fee records are kept for that reason. Published episodes stay on the show. When we no longer need your data, we delete it or make it anonymous. Data in backups is removed when the backup cycle allows.

How we protect it

We use reasonable technical and organizational steps to protect your data, and we rely on the security of the companies named above. No site or service on the internet is 100% secure, so we cannot promise that your data will never be accessed without permission. Please use the site from a secure connection.

Children

This site is for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you think a child has sent us data, email us at [email protected] and we will delete it.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us to:

  • tell you what data we hold about you, and give you a copy,
  • correct data that is wrong,
  • delete your data,
  • stop using your data for a purpose you did not agree to, or limit how we use it.

To ask, email [email protected] or use the Contact page. We may need to confirm who you are first. We will reply as the law that applies to you requires. Some requests have limits, for example where we must keep a record by law.

To stop marketing email, use the unsubscribe link in any message, or write to us.

If you live in the United States

Depending on your state, you may have the right to know what personal data a business holds about you, to access it, correct it, delete it, and get a copy. You may also have the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of your data for targeted advertising. We do not sell personal information. We will not treat you differently for using these rights.

You can ask through the contact details in this policy. You can also have an authorized agent ask for you, and we may ask for proof that they act for you. If we decline your request, you can appeal by emailing [email protected] with “Appeal” in the subject line. If you still disagree, you may be able to contact your state attorney general.

If you live in the UK, EU, or Switzerland

Where the UK GDPR or the EU GDPR applies to you, we process your personal data on these legal grounds:

  • Contract. To book and deliver your guest spot, and to take the fee.
  • Consent. Where you agree, for example to receive our emails. You can withdraw it at any time.
  • Legitimate interests. To run, secure, and improve the show and this site, and to answer messages, where your rights do not outweigh those interests.
  • Legal obligation. To keep records the law requires.

You have the right to access, correct, and delete your data, to restrict or object to how we use it, to move it, and to withdraw consent. Contact us to use these rights. You also have the right to complain to your data protection authority. In the UK that is the Information Commissioner’s Office, at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.

In other countries, local law may give you similar rights. Contact us and we will tell you what we can do.

Where your data is processed

We are based in the United States. The companies we use, named above, may process your data in the United States and in other countries, which may have different data laws than yours. By using this site you understand your data may be moved there.

Changes to this policy

We will update this policy when our practices change. The date at the top shows the latest version. If a change is large, we will say so on this page. Please check back from time to time.
